All of us consolers wanted to thank you and your campers again for an amazing summer at Camp Paw Paw! We hope that each and every camper had a fantastic time and learned a lot about the humane treatment of animals. Hopefully we will see you all again next year!

We would love to hear about you and your camper's experience at camp! Please follow this link to our Google Forum to answer a quick survey. By doing so we can make camp better for years to come!

Day Five: Dog Day

To start off our last day of camp, we all finished up our collages. Then we went and played some games. After a quick snack we waited for our guest speakers to arrive!
Our guest speakers today were the Burlington K-9 Unit. Officer Wade Labrecque was our community partner and helped us organize for this event.  Corporal Martin and his dog Capone and Officer Boudreau and his dog Mo also came to show off their tricks and talents. This included simple tasks like sit, lay down, heel, and stay. This then ranged to more complicated tasks such as searching and tracking and protecting his or her officer. The campers had an amazing time watching the show!
Afterwards we wrote on paper chain links our favorite part of the week. Our weeks color was light green! Before parents came we played a few more games and chatted about how awesome camp was.

Us counselors had an amazing week with your campers! Have a great summer and we hope to see them again.

Day Four: Wildlife Day

Today our original plan was to go to Red Rocks Park. In preparation we made binoculars and bingo sheets. Sadly, when we were walking over we started to hear thunder so we had to turn around. Once back at the humane society we worked on our collages. Then we got a huge surprise! We got to play with two little kittens. After the kittens left we played a few games before parents came for pick- up.

The counselors wanted to say how sorry we were that our field trip got rained out. We look forward to seeing the campers tomorrow!

Day Three: HSCC Day

Today at camp we started by working on our collages. After, we talked in a big group about the pets we have at home. For fun we even talked about if we could have any animal in the world as a pet what it would be. Campers mentioned Lions, Tigers, and Bears (Oh My!). Then we met Jodi who is a vet from BEVS. She taught us all about toxins and how to help animals who are wounded. Then we got the chance to practice on stuffed animals. Next, we went outside to the pet cemetery and did a scavenger hunt. Here we also learned about Gray Mama. She was a feral cat who lived behind the humane society. After that we played a few games before parents came to pick up.

REMINDER: Please have your campers wear their red Camp Paw Paw shirts tomorrow for our trip to Red Rocks Park. Sneakers and water bottles would also be a good addition.

Day Two: Enrichment Day

Today at camp we started off the day running! Or bug hunting rather. We met Lidden Higgens and she taught us all about bugs. Then we went out and searched for our own bugs! We even found a garden snake. We got to pet the little guy too. After Lidden's program, we had snack and headed to the field to play games! While some of us played games, others made bug prints and fossils. Scroll down to check out the pictures!
