Day Two: Cat Day

This morning we worked on our collages. Then we went and played a new game called sharks and minnos. After, we met Dr. Elizabeth Berger from Affectionately Cats. She taught us all about cat care and we got to dress up like surgeons! Next, we got a surprise visit from a group of four kittens! They were so fun and playful. After the kittens we learned a new game called Zip Zap as we waited for parents to arrive. Another great day at camp!

Day Two: Enrichment Day

Today at camp we started off the day running! Or bug hunting rather. We met Lidden Higgens and she taught us all about bugs. Then we went out and searched for our own bugs! We even found a garden snake. We got to pet the little guy too. After Lidden's program, we had snack and headed to the field to play games! While some of us played games, others made bug prints and fossils. Scroll down to check out the pictures!

Day One: Cat Day

This afternoon we met our lovely new campers! We started our day by coloring our name tags and our first letter of our name. Next we played a name game to get to know everyone. After the name game, we took a tour, got our red Camp Paw Paw shirts, and made cat toys. Next we took a fantastic group photo! Scroll down to see. Then we met Joann and her turtle Carmen. We learned all about turtles in Vermont and what to do if we find one that needs help. After, we planted seeds to grow a pretty flower. At the bottom of the flower pot we placed a piece of paper that we wrote on explaining our connections to animals. After Joann we had snack and started our collage project. This is going to be our week long project! Before heading home, we did a Rose, Bud, and Thorn. The Rose is the best part of the day, Bud is what we are looking forward too, and the Thorn is something that we didn't like. Luckily, we had zero Thorns!

Day One: Dog Day

Today we met all of our new amazing campers! We started the day by coloring our name tags and our first letter of our name. After that we played a name game. Once we finished up, we took tours, made cat toys, played a game, and got our red Camp Paw Paw shirts. Then we took a group photo! Scroll down to check it out. After we had snack and patiently awaited for Michelle Douglas Carroll and her therapy dog Ritter. We learned all about Vermont Therapy Dogs. Ritter was such a lover and we got lots of opportunities to pet him. Next we got our collage pages. Our collages are going to be our week long project! Then we did a Rose, Bud, and Thorn. The Rose was the best part, the Bud was what we were looking forward too, and the Thorn was something we didn't like. Thankfully we had zero Thorns today!

Day Five: Enrichment Day

We started the day by going inside to get out of the heat. When we got there we worked on collages and word searches. We then all did a scavenger hunt at the pet cemetery. A lot of kids were saying that they would like to be able to bring their pets there when the time comes. We then got to watch the K-9 Unit demonstrate the abilities of their dogs. Officers Wade Labrecque, Mark Redmond of South Burlington, and Jason Porter of Milton showed off the skills of their dogs, Hatchi and Kaiser.

We then went back inside and had snack. Then,we broke up into two groups. Half of us worked on making dog rope toys while the rest of us make no-bake dog treats. Then, we switched so everyone did each activity. The recipe for the no-bake dog treats is:
3/4 cups of creamy peanut butter
1 1/4 cup oats
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup water
Mix together and mold into any shape you'd like. We found it works best to freeze the extra!

We ended the day by making a paper chain of our favorite camp activities and having popsicles. Check out our paper chain in the lobby of the Humane Society next week!

Thank you for a wonderful week with your kids. We had a great time and hope that they did as well!
