Day Five: Dog Day

To start off our last day of camp, we all finished up our collages. Then we went and played some games. After a quick snack we waited for our guest speakers to arrive!
Our guest speakers today were the Burlington K-9 Unit. Officer Wade Labrecque was our community partner and helped us organize for this event.  Corporal Martin and his dog Capone and Officer Boudreau and his dog Mo also came to show off their tricks and talents. This included simple tasks like sit, lay down, heel, and stay. This then ranged to more complicated tasks such as searching and tracking and protecting his or her officer. The campers had an amazing time watching the show!
Afterwards we wrote on paper chain links our favorite part of the week. Our weeks color was light green! Before parents came we played a few more games and chatted about how awesome camp was.

Us counselors had an amazing week with your campers! Have a great summer and we hope to see them again.

Day Five: Enrichment Day

When we arrived at camp we started by finishing up our collages. Then we went out to the field to play games! It was so much fun. After a quick snack, Joann came and showed us her really cool pets. The first one was Carmen the Three Toed Box Turtle. She was a cutie! Joann taught us all about the seven native turtles from Vermont. Then we got to meet Rick the Hedgehog. Rick was so funny and ran around really fast. After we went back to the tent to write our favorite thing about camp on a paper chain link. Our paper chain color is yellow! We also celebrated the end of a great week with popsicles! The counselors had such a great week with your campers and hope to see everyone again next summer!

Day Four: Wildlife

Today we went on an adventure to Red Rocks Park! Before we left, we made binoculars and had snack. Then we made our trip! At Red Rocks Park we sat by the beach and found sea glass and shells. Then we played a few games like camouflage and flying free squirrel tag. Then we headed back to the humane society just in time for pick-up.

Day Four: Wildlife Day

Today our original plan was to go to Red Rocks Park. In preparation we made binoculars and bingo sheets. Sadly, when we were walking over we started to hear thunder so we had to turn around. Once back at the humane society we worked on our collages. Then we got a huge surprise! We got to play with two little kittens. After the kittens left we played a few games before parents came for pick- up.

The counselors wanted to say how sorry we were that our field trip got rained out. We look forward to seeing the campers tomorrow!

Day Three: HSCC Day

Today we started by working on our collages and coloring pages. After that we started with small groups about our own pets. Then we told each other if we could have any pet in the world what it would be. There was Lions, Tigers, and Bears (Oh My!). Next, Joann came and visited us and taught everyone about bats. We learned about all the bats of Vermont and places they lived. We even used a towel to pretend we were bats and pointed out our different body parts. Then we played an echo-location game. Some campers were blindfolded and had to listen to the "squeak" of the mosquito campers. The counselors even played a round! After we learned about all the jobs someone could be and work with animals. Then we played a game of career charades. Soon parents came for pick up.

REMINDER: We are going to red rock tomorrow! Please have your camper wear their red Camp Paw Paw shirt and sneakers. Also bring a water bottle!
