Today we started the morning by sharing pictures of our pets with the group. Everyone was really excited and engaged to hear about each others' pets. During this conversation we also discussed which animals we would dream of having, such as lions, tigers, and bears (Oh My!). We had a snack and played some games with the parachute before making popsicles for the guinea pigs at HSCC. We made these by using Gerber 1sts baby food. This is used because it is solely made out of the one ingredient (fruit) rather than adding sugar or other flavors/preservatives. Some flavors we used that are safe for guinea pigs were apple, banana, sweet potato, mango, and pear. Give it a try for those hot summer days for your small animals at home!
Erin, the Volunteer & Community Outreach Manager for HSCC, came out to tell us more about what the humane society does. We all had lots of great stories to share and questions to ask about the animals in the shelter. Then, Erin let us meet her personal dog Shelby, who was a rescue from the humane society! She was very sweet and gave us lots of kisses.
A reminder: please remember to have your child wear their red shirt tomorrow for our walking trip to Red Rocks Park. It is under a mile away but please make sure your child has a water bottle with them for the heat.
